Random Update 6/27/10

June 27, 2010 – 10:25 am

Wow, it’s really been a long time since I updated this thing.

A few major things ocurred… we sold Dorsey or the incomplete house. That happened around May 12.

Date Started: May 2008
Estimated Time: 2+years either way
Actual Time: 2 years
Players Involved: Brian, me, Curtis, Uncle George
Status Of This Project: Completed

The Marie house is being rented since we couldn’t sell it. We’re currently making like three times what we were before. We had to kick out the people who lived there before since they weren’t bringing in the income we needed.

We decided on the storage for cars. Since Brian and I created a garage, we have room for our two. Uncle George is currently storing Stacy’s cars.

We’ve also been slowly moving stuff out of the garage. Here’s a picture of what the garage looks like now.

We had to decrease the price of the house again. We have to try to sell it ASAP because our debt is going up too high. Selling Dorsey helped but only a little.

There is still stuff to get rid of. The Barracuda is still there and so is a lot of coke machines.

We don’t go up there but randomly. It’s not like the years before. I’m really happy we don’t have to worry about it all that much.

Random Update 2/2/10

February 2, 2010 – 3:57 pm

Nothing much new on the Dad’s house front. We’re done the tire pile!

Date Started: Aug 11, 2009
Estimated Time: 2 months
Actual Time: 5 months
Players Involved: Brian
Status Of This Project: Done

The furnace had issues. The heat wasn’t kicking on come winter. It was like 40 degrees in the house. Uncle George quickly got on the case and had some friends come and fix it. We now have oil and everything should be fine.

The realtor has been showing the house, but no bites yet. I guess there’s interest, so that’s good at least. There is still a bunch of stuff in the garage, including the Baracuda. We’re probably going to work on cleaning it out in a few weeks.

The offer on the unfinished house fell through. We currently have another offer which, hopefully, will go through.

Marie has NOT sold yet, either. Dad’s lawyer is thinking of renting it out again just so we can get more income.

Random Update 10/25/09

October 27, 2009 – 2:41 pm

We’ve been focusing on doing the garage still. It’s almost done. We just need to sell the left over drywall and finish spackling. The Camaro is already in!

As far as Dad’s house goes, it’s been a while since we went up there. The big garage is nearly empty (compared to what it was). Bri and I took half a day last Wednesday to scope out what we still needed to do. The lawyer showed up later to tell us what all we needed to do before the house can go up on the market.

Basically we had to:

  • Clean out the entire house and put everything in the garage
  • Cut the loose cords
  • Clean the toilets

Bri and I went to work emptying the house on Wednesday. We took a bunch of stuff home. Stacy finished boxing her lamps. Now she just needs to store them.

Bri had finished with the lamps a while ago. Progress on the lamps:

Date Started: Aug 8, 2009
Estimated Time: 2 days
Actual Time: 2 days
Players Involved: Stacy, Brian, me
Status Of This Project: Completed (all are down & boxed & new ones are in)

I did a few shelf liners on Wednesday as well. Progress on shelf liners:

Date Started: Jul 18, 2009
Estimated Time: 3 days
Actual Time: 3 days on & off
Players Involved: Stacy, me
Status Of This Project: Completed

On Sunday Curtis came to help us. We finished emptying the house, of everything. I cleaned the counter. We got a lot of trash out as well. We loaded the ram with nothing but trash. Brian also cut the lose cables and put covers over the walls.

We also got a load of tires in the ram. Curtis got all of his supplies out of the house as well. The house is now officially empty!

Progress on emptying entire house:

Date Started: Jan 17, 2008
Estimated Time: 1 year
Actual Time: 1 year 10 months
Players Involved: Curtis, Brian, Janny, Uncle George, Stacy
Status Of This Project: Completed (the stuff is in the garage, we’ll go through it later)

We swept up the basement and cleaned up the pool room. We got the rest of the stuff out from there (except Stacy’s table leaves and the mirrors).

There are still car parts in the basement that Uncle George needs to take.

Basically, we need to totally complete our garage, start moving stuff in there, then get the rest of the stuff as well as the Cuda, out. There are probably a few other things we need to fix up to call it completely done… There’s always a few things.

There’s light! There’s the light!

Random Update 9/5/09

September 8, 2009 – 1:00 pm

We keep waiting on our garage to get done. That’s what’s holding us up.

Over Labor Day weekend, we got a few things done, though. Bri put up the rest of the lamps and I got some stuff out.

Per Bri’s request, here are some photos:

Progress on the lamps:

Date Started: Aug 8, 2009
Estimated Time: 2 days
Actual Time: TBD
Players Involved: Stacy, Brian, me
Status Of This Project: In Progress (need to box and take the others from the garage down, mostly done)

Whenever our garage gets done things will move fast. We’re going to put it on the market hopefully within the next few weeks when we get the cars out. Uncle George said he was going to remove the vette or a lift this week.

Tire Pile

August 17, 2009 – 9:52 am

Unfortunately, the way the junk cars worked out, they wouldn’t take the tires. We accumulated a HUGE tire pile in the back yard, since our scrap guy would come back with the tires.

Tire Pile

Since Anne Arundel County sucks, they only let us dump four tires A YEAR there, we have to take trips to the dump in MoCo (which allows four tires A DAY).

Tire Pile

Uncle George came up with the idea to load the flat bed up then dump them at some random place at 3AM but this plan hasn’t materialized yet. Brian and I decided to do it the slow way and take them legally to the dump. So, Brian and I have been loading up the ram with tires to take to the dump, one day at a time.

I’d say there’s about 200 tires in the pile, possibly more. You figure we had 50 cars back there. Plus random tires that were in the junk yard before.

We can get about 20-24 tires in a truck load. Over the course of five days, four a day, we drop them off at the MoCo dump on 355.

Bri Just Loaded The Truck

We’ll see how this goes. We’ve done two loads so far but it doesn’t even look like we made a dent in the pile.

Progress on the tire pile:

Estimated Time: 2 months
Actual Time: 5 months
Players Involved: Brian
Status Of This Project: Done
