Shows I Can Binge Over And Over
I’m weird and I like to rewatch shows. I feel like I learn or observe something new every time I see them. I get more information and see more character development. Also someone like me who doesn’t remember character names until like five episodes in; it helps. I can also see how their character develops throughout a series since I know what happens.
Anyway, I like to rewatch shows even if I’ve seen them a bunch. Just thought I would create a list.
- Breaking Bad – Always a classic. I like to rewatch this for the great characters and the great story. I always notice some hidden detail that I missed before.
- Better Caul Saul – It’s in the same universe as Breaking Bad and it’s a prequel (even though it was filmed after Breaking Bad). I can always catch something new watching this. I love how we see the same characters from Breaking Bad appear in this show. I wish we could see the “Gene Scenes” without them being black and white. And the only way to watch BCS is by watching all of BB mid season 6.
- Frasier – I’ve loved this show since I was a kid. Even though it was a sitcom and you can pretty much watch any episode without knowing anything, it’s still great. I love the Daphne and Niles relationship and watching what happens to everyone. I wasn’t a Cheers fan but I loved Frasier. Frasier also had a great ending (even if it does have more reboot seasons; the original is the best).
- Lost – One of those really good shows where so many things tie together. They reference stuff in season 4 that was originally in season 1… everything just went together. Though there were a few loose ends, I thought the final season was pretty good; although sad. I also love the characters and their development and backstory. I recently watched Lost in chronological order and it was amazing. I picked up on so many little things I missed while watching it originally.
- Dexter – If there was one show I could rewatch like it was a virgin to me, it would be Dexter. So many twists and turns throughout the season… sooo good. Even if the last four seasons really sucked, the first four were amazing. I did think the books were better. (Isn’t that always the case?)
- Shameless – You just love some of the characters and their relentlessness to just “make it.” They really do whatever they can to survive. Even though some of the characters just get in their own way (i.e. Lip), it’s still just great to root for them. I also really enjoyed the final season which had Covid in it. I loved that. So many shows pretended like there wasn’t a pandemic going on. Shameless wrote it in. I also really loved the ending. Very satisfying ending.
- Travelers – Even though this show only had three seasons, it’s one of my favorites. It’s sci-fi and mystery and drama… it has a little of everything. Very well written and the stories are amazing. Highly recommend this show… Just wish it had more. The ending sucked but it was understandable.
- The Newsroom – Man do I really wish this show lasted more than three seasons! As Americans, we needed this show to continue. Like I would have religiously watched News Night every night. That is how news SHOULD be. And I loved seeing the dynamics around the news room. Having had crushes on some of my coworkers before, I totally dug the relationships and the hesitation and waiting. But loved this show for the politics.
These shows I don’t watch nearly as often as the others but they’re still good to watch.
- Scrubs – What a great and funny show. I loved how the relationships change so much over the years of the show. It also gave me a perspective on my life and how much I’ve grown up. The series started a few years before I went to college so I always had it as it was a kinda learning show.
- Fringe – I loved how the first few episodes of this series tied into one another. I think they didn’t think it was going to be a success so they didn’t think ahead more than six episodes but it still is a great show. I love the sci-fi and solving the mysteries. I don’t like the unrealistic aspect of how fast they really think they can get from Massachusetts to New York City in like a half hour. Unrealistic. (And yea I know that kind of thing bothers me and not the physics of amber fossilization.)
- True Blood – I would probably watch this more than the other ones in this sub list because the characters are so good in it. And deep down it is a good story. Lots of sex!
- Big Love – Don’t know why I was so fascinated with this series at one point but it’s worth a few watches… maybe because like any HBO show it has so much sex in it. But there are details you miss unless you watch it at least twice; and it needs to be binge watched.
Some honorable mentions but shows I would probably never watch again: Oz, The Umbrella Academy, Stranger Things, House, The Boyz, Bosch, The Lincoln Lawyer, Law & Order: SVU.
I will probably update this post with more shows that are at least worth a watch.
